If your car has any open safety recall, your Auto Manufacturer is responsible to fix the problem by repairing, offering a refund, replacing the car, or repurchasing the vehicle. According to the Safety Recall outline, auto manufacturers are needed to notify vehicle owners about the problem within 60 days. If an owner could not get it repaired within time, the vehicle continues to have an open recall. Even if you have not been notified by your manufacturer, you are still eligible for a remedy on the recalled vehicle. If your BMW is recalled, you don’t need to worry about the repair cost. All costs associated with the repair or replacement are completely the responsibility of the dealer or manufacturer.
Whether a safety recall is accompanied by the auto manufacturer or is ordered by the NHTSA, a public report must be filed giving the following information:
– The safety-related defect or noncompliance with a federal motor vehicle safety standard
– The number of involved vehicle/equipment
– The major events that caused the recall determination
– A description of the remedy
– A schedule for the recall
