Report or Sticker Problem? Request a Correction

Summary: A problem with a report or window sticker has one of six causes. Each cause has a different remedy. Some are corrected, some are regenerated, and some cannot be fixed because the source data does not exist. This page identifies the cause, lists what to prepare and states what happens next. Refunds follow the published terms and are handled separately.

Three terms

  • Correction changes an input or a field that is wrong.
  • Regeneration produces the report or document again.
  • Refund is a financial remedy governed by the published terms. See the refund page and the terms.

Which situation is yours?

Situation What it means What can be done
Source data does not exist or cannot be found The requested record may not be available. No matching record found means the searched sources returned none. An explanation of the limitation. Correcting the interface cannot create source data that does not exist. See why vehicle data may be missing.
A data provider failed to return data The source or provider may have failed to return what it holds Retry or regenerate where appropriate
The system did not produce or display the result correctly A generation or interface fault The defect is corrected and the result regenerated or redelivered
The identifier entered was wrong The VIN, plate or state was mistyped or misread Corrected once the right identifier is confirmed. A new report may be required.
The delivered report or sticker is sparse or incomplete Some records or fields are missing An explanation of the limits. Refund eligibility depends on the published terms.
The report or sticker was not delivered You did not receive the expected deliverable The delivery is investigated and retried. Refund eligibility depends on the published terms.

These situations are not interchangeable. A sparse report is not proof of an error, and a missing record is not evidence that an event never occurred.

When a correction request fits

  • The VIN entered was wrong and the document shows another vehicle.
  • A decoded field, such as year, make, model or engine, conflicts with the vehicle.
  • A window sticker block, such as trim, engine or color, conflicts with the vehicle or its documents.
  • A listing, image or record appears to belong to another vehicle.
  • A mileage entry appears to contain a transcription error.
  • You hold supporting documents that show an error.
  • Important information was omitted despite available evidence.

When it does not

A record that was never reported cannot be added by correcting a report. A window sticker that omits an option because configuration data is incomplete reflects a limitation, not a fault. See window sticker missing fields and what a report cannot show.

Before you request

  1. Confirm that the VIN you entered matches the vehicle. Compare the dashboard plate, the door-frame label and the title. See where to find the VIN.
  2. Compare the decoded year, make and model with the vehicle.
  3. Check whether your situation is a limitation. Read the two pages above.

What to include

For any request:

  • The VIN and a link to, or a copy of, the report or document
  • The field that looks wrong and what it shows
  • What the vehicle or its documents show instead
  • Photos of the dashboard plate, the door-frame label and the title
  • Screenshots or error messages, if any

For a refund request, add:

  • The transaction ID and the date of purchase
  • The payment method used
  • The reason for the request
  • The remedy you prefer, such as a refund to the original payment method or a report credit

How to send it

Use the contact page or communicate directly through live chat. Our customer support available 24/7.

What happens next

A request is reviewed against the situations in the table. The outcome is one of three kinds:

  • An explanation where the source data does not exist or the delivered result is a limitation
  • A correction and regeneration where a provider, generation or input fault is confirmed
  • A retry or redelivery where the deliverable did not arrive

Information you supply

When you provide a correct VIN, a document or a correction, it is identified as user-supplied or corrected information. It is not treated as independently verified. See how PremiumVIN labels evidence.

Refunds

Refunds are separate from corrections. The published terms distinguish among incomplete delivered reports, unavailable data, duplicate payments, undelivered reports, window sticker technical problems and mistaken subscriptions. Some situations may be eligible for a refund and others are generally not. Read the refund page and the terms for your situation.
